Heikki Kovalainen is the only driver to have taken their only Formula 1 victory at this track (2008). British champions Damon Hill and Jenson Button both won their first F1 races here, in 1993 and 2006 respectively, and Fernando Alonso also took his first F1 win at the track in 2003.
Robert Kubica and Jaime Alguersuari are among the drivers who made their F1 debuts at the track. Kubica was disqualified from his first appearance here – which is the only time a driver has been disqualified from an F1 race at the Hungaroring.

There have been two occasions on which a driver has retired from a Hungarian Grand Prix but has still picked up points from the event. Martin Brundle didn’t see the chequered flag due to electrical problems on the penultimate lap in 1994, but still picked up three points four fourth place. Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher retired with three laps to go in 2006 after damaging his suspension in a collision with Nick Heidfeld. He still finished far enough ahead of those behind to pick up the final point for eighth place.

Three drivers have scored points on all of their Hungarian Grand Prix appearances. Johnny Dumfries and Antonio Pizzonia scored points in their only appearances at the Hungaroring in 1986 and 2004 respectively. Meanwhile, Alex Albon is the most recent driver to join this club, having finished in the top ten on his two Hungarian Grand Prix appearances in 2019 and 2020.

French team AGS failed to qualify at the track five times from eight appearances; the most failures to qualify for a team at the track. In the three times they did make it into the race, Pascal Fabre and Gabriele Tarquini finished in thirteenth in 1987 and 1990 respectively, while Philippe Streiff retred in 1988.

Rubens Barrichello and Jarno Trulli each recorded six non-points scoring finishes at the Hungaroring during their careers, the highest total for any driver at the track.

The most consecutive DNFs for a driver at this track goes to Pierluigi Martini, who retired from all seven races which he entered here between 1988 and 1994. He’s also tied for the highest overall total of DNFs at the Hungaroring. Jean Alesi, Eddie Irvine and Michael Schumacher all recorded seven retirements at this circuit during their careers.

There have been nine occasions where a team has recorded a 1-2 finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Ferrari are the team to have done it most recently, in 2017, and are also the team who have had the most in total, with three; in 2001, 2004 and 2017.

The highest number of cars to be classified at the end of a Hungarian Grand Prix is 22, which happened in 2012. Though Kamui Kobayashi, who was classified 18th, failed to finish the race due to hydraulic problems on the penultimate lap, 22 of the 24 drivers who started were classified in the final result. Pedro de la Rosa finished in 22nd on that day.

From their 70 entries at the circuit (two cars in each of the last 35 years), appearances here, the team has recorded only eleven retirements. Since the turn of the millennium, there have been just four occasions where a Williams driver has failed to reach the chequered flag at the Hungaroring. Most recently, Paul di Resta, deputising for Felipe Massa, retired from the race in 2017.
