About
Formula E has been racing at the 2.373km Brooklyn Street Circuit in New York since 2017, which has scenic views of the Lower Manhattan skyline.
The circuit made its debut in Season 3 in a double-header race weekend, making it the first official FIA sanctioned open-wheel race event in New York City since the late 1800s. While New York may be the only American venue on the Formula E calendar this season, the New York City E-Prix is actually the third city in the United States after Miami and Long Beach to host an E-Prix.
When the idea for an E-Prix in New York was first conceptualised, the organisers looked at a few other potential venues in the city to hold the race including Central Park and Governors Island before deciding on Red Hook in Brooklyn as the most suitable and practical site.
The Brooklyn Street Circuit in Red Hook runs along the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and features 14 turns. The circuit was slightly updated for season 4 and now features a tight hairpin in turn 1 similar to the Hong Kong track, but with slightly more undulations. Techteetah’s Jean-Éric Vergne was crowned champion here last season while Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler was crowned with the team’s championship title.
New York is no stranger to street racing, the city was once touted to be a prime location for a Formula 1 race and even hosted Nascar in the 1950s with an older history of street racing that goes back to the late 1800s.

How to get there
The home of Formula E in New York is located in the Red Hook district of Brooklyn, close to the water with views of the Manhattan Skyline.
New York is served by three main airports – John F. Kennedy (JFK) and La Guardia (LGA) in Queens and Newark in New Jersey (EWR). Although none of the New York airports have the best reputation, JFK is probably your best bet for flying to the New York E-Prix.
The circuit can be reached in about 20 minutes walk from the nearest subway stations at Carroll St and Smith-9th Street, both served by F & G Trains. Click here to search for a route.
